Key Ingredients

1. Whole Limes

Using the whole lime—peel and all—adds intense citrus flavor and a touch of bitterness that balances the sweetness beautifully. Make sure to scrub them clean!

2. Coconut Condensed Milk

This is what makes the drink creamy, sweet, and tropically indulgent. It’s like a coconut milkshake with a citrusy punch.

3. Ice + Water

The key to that signature Brazilian texture is lots of ice blended right into the drink. It turns it into a creamy, slushy dream that’s ultra refreshing.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1. Prep the limes. Trim the ends off each lime and cut them into quarters.

Step 2. First blend: Add limes, sugar, and cold water to a blender. Pulse 5–8 times—just enough to extract flavor without over-blending the peel.

Step 3. Strain: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp and peel. Press with a spoon to get all the juice out.

Step 4. Final blend: Return the strained liquid to the blender. Add coconut condensed milk and 4 cups of ice. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Step 5. Serve: Pour over fresh ice and garnish with lime wedges. Serve immediately!

Frequently Asked Questions

Mymanabites Icon

Can I make this ahead of time?

It’s best enjoyed fresh, but you can prep the first blend (lime, sugar, water) in advance and add ice + condensed milk right before serving.

Can I use key limes or bottled juice?

Fresh whole limes give the drink its signature flavor. Bottled juice won’t deliver the same citrus oils and aroma.

Can I substitute the coconut condensed milk?

Yes! You can use regular sweetened condensed milk or even make your own coconut condensed version at home.

This ice-cold Brazilian-style limeade is sweet, tart, creamy, and insanely refreshing. Inspired by Brazil’s famous limonada suíça, this version uses coconut condensed milk to add a tropical twist that’s perfect for summer sipping.

Ingredients (6 servings):

  • 4 limes, scrubbed and washed (plus wedges for garnish)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 7 oz sweetened coconut condensed milk (or regular condensed milk)

  • 4 cups ice, plus more for serving

Instructions:

Final blend:
Return the strained liquid to the blender. Add the coconut condensed milk and ice. Blend until smooth, frothy, and creamy.

Serve:
